Agilent Technologies First to Offer System-Level Wireless Signal Sources, Standards Measurements from within Cadence Design Platform
New Wireless Test Benches Enable Verification of RF Circuit Designs to
Increase Productivity, Speed Wireless Product Development
PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 14, 2003 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A)
today introduced its RF Design Environment (RFDE) wireless test benches, the
first product that offers system-level wireless signal sources and standards
measurements from within Cadence Design System's industry-standard Virtuoso
custom design platform. The new RFDE wireless test benches enable
verification of RF circuit designs to help engineers in the communications
industry increase productivity and speed development of wireless products.
Today, system-level verification of circuit-level designs is performed late
in the development cycle. The frequent use of unconnected tools to perform
design verification increases risk and costs, leading to delays in the
development cycle. Now, wireless system architects can develop test benches
early in the development cycle and export them from Agilent's Advanced
Design System (ADS) into RFDE. RFIC designers can then access the test
benches from within the Cadence analog and mixed-signal design flow
framework to verify their circuit designs before going to manufacturing. In
addition, several pre-configured wireless test benches are available as an
RFDE option, and provide fully parameterized sources and measurements to
help meet today's complex wireless standards such as WLAN, 3GPP and
TD-SCDMA.
"Agilent's new wireless test benches fill the tremendous needs of our
customers who are designing to the latest communication standards and
increasingly integrating and verifying their designs within complex
systems," said Jim Tabuchi, marketing and services manager of the EEsof EDA
Division at Agilent. "RFDE wireless test benches are the result of our
ongoing alliance with Cadence and are the latest enhancement to our widely
accepted RFDE electronic design automation software."
Agilent's RFDE electronic design automation (EDA) software environment
tightly integrates RF simulation technologies from Agilent's ADS into
Cadence's analog and mixed-signal design flow. The RFDE wireless test
benches are part of the ongoing alliance between Agilent and Cadence to
provide technologies that support complete systems-to-IC design
implementation solutions for wireless communications products.
RFDE wireless test benches use Agilent's industry-leading simulation
technologies such as Circuit Envelope, Agilent Ptolemy and Automatic
Verification Modeling. In addition, the Agilent Connection Manager works
with RFDE wireless test benches to download data from RFDE to test
instrumentation so that system verification can be performed earlier in the
development cycle.
